[Daryan sat at the bar, twirling his now-empty beer bottle around between two of his fingers and glancing around. Where were those friends of his anyway? They’d said they’d be back soon, but yet they were nowhere to be found. He slapped a ten down onto the bar and requested another beer. Fuck, he had to look depressing, sitting here drinking alone.
A woman walked past him, giving him a quick smile and ordering a beer and a cola before walking back to her group. Well, at least she had friends.
He shouldn’t even be drinking, let alone this much, not since he’d been put on medication for his apparent depression by his therapist. Ah, well, fuck her. He watched the group in the corner until they left, and stayed at the bar until he’d finished his beer.
He was just heading outside when he heard the shouting of an argument between a man and a woman. Against any sort of common sense, he followed the source of the noise. It wasn’t the group from the bar, they were long gone, but it didn’t seem like your average drunk couple’s fight.]
“Stay away from her before I smash your face in.”
“Shut up, he hasn’t done anything to you!”
“Except fuck my wife!”
“We aren’t sleeping together! Damn it, how many times do I have to tell you!? We’re friends.”
[Okay, maybe it was a drunk couple fight.]
“Move out of the way.”
“So you can hit him? No.”
“Move out of the fucking way, bitch!”
[Daryan was just turning to leave again, when he saw the woman get pushed to the floor out of the corner of his eye and the man attack the guy behind her, the friend that she had been protecting.]
[He ran towards the fight, hoping his shout would at least startle the attacker and give his victim a chance to escape, but it had no effect. So instead he looked at the woman.]
[She nodded and stood up holding her arm.]
Get out of here, call the police, okay? I’ll deal with this.
I’ll deal with it. I’m with the police.
“But, my husband—”
[He heard her heels on the street as he ran away and he started to pull the attacker off the other guy.
They threw a few punches at each other, and the fight continued. This guy was strong, and he was beating Daryan to a pulp. Damn it, he was going to look like a hamburger when this was over.
His original target just stood there, watching, until Daryan was thrown into him.]
Ughh, ya might wanna run.
[He paused to wipe some blood away from his eyes and lip, giving the attacker enough time to switch targets again, and start beating the poor guy’s head on the pavement.
Daryan kicked, grabbed and threw punches at him to get him to stop before he actually killed him, but by the time he stopped, the man was already lying with his eyes closed and a steady pool of blood forming around his head.
It took one well placed right hook to knock Daryan to the floor and two minutes for him to start to black out.
The last thing he saw was the guy he’d tried to save turn pale.
He wasn’t sure if the police had ever turned up, but he would guess they had since he woke up in a hospital bed with his face nicely stitched up and a doctor standing over him.]
“Good to see you’re awake, now before we can discharge you, we just need to run a few simple tests. Can you tell me your name?”
Daryan… Daryan Crescend.
“Good. And your age?”
“What day is it?”
It’s uh, uh… it’s a Friday?
“Very good. I’ll discharge you now and then you can go home, okay?”
[After half an hour, he’d returned to his house and taken more than his reccommended dose of medication, as well as some painkillers and poured himself a double JD and coke. He couldn’t save him. He’d failed. The one time he’d tried to be any good to anyone and he’d failed. He took a swig of his drink and poured the rest down the sink before laying down on the couch and slowly falling asleep again.]
*Klavier happily came outside, humming to himself*
Alright, I’m ready to go~
*After driving about half an hour they arrived at the restaurant*
We’re gonna have to wait for quite awhile I think.
It’s pretty fancy so we probably need to wait for a free table.
[Daryan hardly said anything, just driving until they reached the restaurant. Then he got out of the car and listened to his friend.]
‘Kay. Although if i’s pretty fancy, are ya sure I’m alright to go inside?
[He looked down at the tight black t-shirt and faded jeans he was wearing, along with his boots.]
*Klavier smiles and nods*
I haven’t eaten since my lunch so I’m quite hungry.
Why don’t we go to a restaurant?
I know a pretty good one where I ate some time ago with a friend.
I ‘d like to have a honey walnut salad with some shrimp~
[Daryan smirks a little, and places a hand on Gavin’s shoulder.]
‘Kay. Go get your coat and meet me in the car, I’m payin’.
Although you’re probably gonna have to give me directions.
[Daryan leaves, and stands by his car smoking while waiting for his friend to come outside.]
*Klavier blushes as Daryan ruffled his hand through his hair*
But, I’m sure it won’t happen again.
Daryan and I love each other already for so long, even if we only know this now.
Or… That’s what I like to think at least…
Well… if it does, y’know where I’ll be.
And if he keeps comin’ back, he must feel somethin’ for ya, right?
Tell ya what, how ‘bout I go get us some food? Never know, might make us feel better.
Thank you Daryan.
I make sure to remember your kind offer.
I just hope my Daryan and I won’t fight again.
It makes me question myself and I start to wonder if I’m really good enough for him, despite all the things he says.
If he ever comes home again telling me he cheated for the third time I… I just don’t know what I’ll do.
I’m afraid I might snap at him and that everything will be screwed up…
Well, if that happens we can be screwed up together, ‘kay?
[Without thinking, Daryan lightly ruffles Gavin’s hair.]
Then I might have to hunt him down for ya.
And trust me, kid, you’re good enough for anyone.
And yeah, I still have your number.
I’d like to hang out again sometime.
*Klavier gave Daryan a small pet on the back*
Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll find someone else again.
Heh, I’m doing good.
It has been really crazy the past few days.
Daryan cheated on me for the second time, and when I went to brother to have a shoulder to cry on, we… kinda ended up having… You know…
Daryan and I had a little fight about it, but we made up and everything’s alright now.
Sometimes, I think you guys are crazy. I ain’t even gonna say anythin’ ‘bout your brother either.
Next time, if there is one, maybe ya should come to me. It ain’t me sayin’ that we’ll make out or anythin’, just that maybe we can order a pizza and watch a movie. ‘Cause y’know, I always did kinda hate seein’ ya upset.
[He takes a receipt from his last shopping trip out of his pocket and a pen, then quickly scribbles down an address.]
My new address. Stop by sometime, ‘kay? Maybe I’ll sing to ya or somethin’.
You’re always welcome here.
If you ever need someone around you, I’m always there for you.
*Klavier gave a small nod*
Yeah, maybe you will find someone better who will be able to make you happy.
You deserve to be happy, Daryan.
So do ya.
Uh, in the meantime, I should give ya my new address. If ya ever wanna stay over or somethin’, just call. I have 2 bedrooms anyway now so no worries.
And ya got my number still, in case ya wanna meet up or somethin’ right?
[He moves slightly closer to his friend, wrapping his arms around his neck again and sighing.]
Thanks for everythin’. I really loved him, y’know? Just annoyin’ that it ended like this, usually I’m the one walkin’ out.
[He pulled away again giving a short laugh.]
So… how’re ya?
That’s not true Daryan.
We’re still friends aren’t we?
Even if you’re a different version of the Daryan I love, it still feels good to be around you.
You were the first person here to comfort me when I finally left my house.
You told me about all the possibilities of finding other versions of people we know.
It gave me hope and strength to find my Daryan and Kristoph back.
Even if I don’t have the same feelings for you as for my own Daryan, you still have a special place in my heart.
I.. shouldn’t have come to ya.
I just… I wanted to be near him, y’know? Ain’t like I think you’re him.
[He gives a weak smile]
Maybe it’ll all be okay and I dunno, I’ll get engaged again or somethin’.
I used to think like that too.
I always blamed myself for the death of my Daryan and Kristoph.
It pulled me down so much that I…
One day, when the feeling of guilt and sadness took over me…
When I just dared to get out of my house and see a hospital…
When I didn’t had anyone at that time…
I overdosed on my anti-depressants…
But the next day I woke up, and I’m really grateful for that.
I have so many friends now, I even found my Daryan and Kristoph back.
I promise you, it will get better.
*He softly rubbed Daryan’s back*
I’m sorry ‘bout that and… and, I’m glad ya never died. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have met, but I really shouldn’t have come to ya.
You’re a different version of him, and bein’ here like this… kinda feels like I still have somethin’ but… ya don’t need me.
[He pulls back from Gavin a little so they’re barely touching.]
Ya really don’t need me at all, Gavin.
(But I need ya)
It will be okay.
I’m sure you deserve someone better if he just left you without saying anything.
*Klavier noticed the sad and worried look on Daryan’s face*
I know how you feel…
But it will get better, I promise.
I’m always here for you.
*He pulled Daryan in for a hug.
He knew the feeling all too well.
The feeling of losing the people you care about.
The feeling of losing your own sanity.
Klavier exactly knows how it feels, and he doesn’t want anyone else to suffer from it too*
[For once, Daryan leans straight into the hug and just stays there for a while, perfectly still.]
What if it doesn’t? What if I can’t find anyone else?
…Maybe I was the one who drove him away.
[Daryan’s hand reaches up slightly to rest near Gavin’s hair.]
I…shouldn’t be here.
